The Word "Fuck"

We hear it all the time, from all ages.  F this and F you and f'ing whatever.  This drives me nuts.

While I have been known to express this in anger or other strong emotion, I don't make it part of my every day vocabulary.  Lots of others do.  Now, I am a firm believer of freedom of speech, but there are times when this word just needs to not be around.

Restaurants--If I can hear you say this word, you are speaking too loudly to begin with.   It also tells me you have no self respect.  It's an ugly word, and makes the speaker ugly when it shows up.

Stores-see above.   In fact, this goes for any public place.  Maybe what I'm getting at is the only place this is appropriate is in traffic or in privacy.

The other problem I have is that most people don't think about what it means.  I'm sure if they did they would find a different word.  To Fuck means to have intercourse.   I would assume, then, that "Fucking Awesome" would mean something as great as sex.  With the limited supply of "great" sex, it should be reserved for that which is truly outstanding.   The phrase "Where the Fuck" is completely nonsensical.  Where the, or what the, F has absolutely no correlation with sex.  "Where the F are my glasses?", unless spoken naked and immediately following sex.  "Fuck off" may get a pass though.  Technically it would mean to have intercourse by yourself, or masturbate.  I suppose it could be appropriate to offer that option to someone you are encouraging to leave.

In all seriousness though, the worst is "Fuck You".  When you say that to a person, you are saying
they should be raped.  Read that again.  When you say that to someone, you are wishing an horrible thing on them.  Sex without consent is a really painful, scary thing, and while some people can make me so mad I want them to have really painful, scary things, they don't generally involve intercourse.
Worse still, it sort of makes fun of the very serious thing that rape is.  I know you don't want to be doing that!

I'm sure I will say this word in the future.  Sometimes inappropriately.  It's in our culture now.  If you hear me, please remind me to think of the meaning of that word.

Let's teach society together.
